Collecting Submissions for Queer Colouring Book

Calling Queer Folks of all ages! Want to have your own page in a colouring book? We're looking for story submissions that highlight Queer experiences nature, or answer the question, "Is Nature Queer?"

In the second edition of our colouring book project, we want to uplift the stories of our Queer friends and neighbours who have found comfort, joy, community, and/or connection in nature.

What we're looking for from you
A short story around 100-300 words of an experience where you felt affirmed, celebrated or reflected in nature. Please make sure not to put in personal details you wouldn't want available to the public (i.e. the name of your city)

An artist will make an illustration based on the story to be published alongside it in our colouring book. These will be made available by donation, either by downloading online for printing or a physical copy. We will also be reaching out to local book shops, schools, and other organizations and safe-spaces to share these stories of Queer delight.

All proceeds will go to supporting Wild Embrace in its search for securing a property to run programs. We at Wild Embrace Farm are fundraising to get our project up and running. Once we reach our fundraising goals we'll be a community center located on a hobby farm, with a focus on supporting equity-seeking groups, including neurodivergent youth.

Story-tellers may choose to remain anonymous or share their name (or "nom de plume"!), pronouns and any physical characteristics they would like us to include (race, gender expression, style) please include it in your submission. If no name or pronouns are included we will default to they/them and select a gender-neutral name. Before going to print we will show you a draft of the page and story to make sure it reflects your experience.

Contributors will receive a free copy of the book mailed to them, and credit by name if they so choose.
